1. Ayyub (peace be upon him) was a prophet and a good servant of Allah. Allah had given him many blessings: his health, his family and good things in his life. Ayyub always thanked Allah.
2. Then Allah tested Ayyub. He became very sick, for a long, long time. He lost the good things he had, and he lost his family too. It was very hard.
3. But Ayyub did not complain about Allah. He stayed patient. He kept remembering Allah and kept turning to Him, day and night.
4. Ayyub called out to his Lord with a gentle dua: Harm has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy (Al-Anbiya 21:83).
5. Allah answered his dua. Allah told him: strike the ground with your foot. And cool, fresh water came out, to wash in and to drink (Sad 38:42).
6. Allah took away his illness and made him healthy again. Allah gave him back his family, and as many more with them, as a mercy from Allah and a reminder for everyone who worships Him (Al-Anbiya 21:84).
7. Allah praised Ayyub in the Qur'an: We found him patient. What an excellent servant! He always turned back to Allah (Sad 38:44).
