Zakariyya (peace be upon him) was an old man who loved to pray. He asked Allah for a child, and Allah gave him a son named Yahya (peace be upon him).
Zakariyya (peace be upon him) took care of young Maryam, who prayed in a special prayer room called the mihrab. Every time he came in, he found food with her. He asked: where does this come from? Maryam said: it is from Allah. Allah gives to whom He wills, without counting (Al-Imran 3:37).
