🐦 Dawud and the singing mountains

1. Long ago, a small army of believers went out with their king, Talut, to face a huge army led by a strong man named Jalut. Many were afraid. But the believers said: how many times has a small group beaten a big group, by Allah's permission! Allah is with those who are patient (Al-Baqarah 2:249).

2. In that army there was a brave young man named Dawud (peace be upon him). By Allah's permission, Dawud defeated Jalut. Then Allah gave Dawud a kingdom and wisdom, and taught him many things (Al-Baqarah 2:251).

3. Allah made Dawud a prophet and gave him a holy book called the Zabur (An-Nisa 4:163). Dawud loved to praise Allah with his beautiful voice.

4. When Dawud praised Allah, the mountains and the birds praised Allah with him! Allah said: O mountains, repeat praises with him, and you too, O birds (Saba 34:10).

5. Allah made iron soft for Dawud. He made strong coats of armour to protect people (Saba 34:10-11). Our Prophet ﷺ said that Dawud ate from what he earned with his own hands.

6. Dawud was a king, so people came to him with their problems. Allah told him: judge between people with the truth (Sad 38:26). Dawud tried hard to be fair to everyone.

7. Dawud worshipped Allah a lot. Our Prophet ﷺ said he fasted one day and ate the next, and prayed part of the night. Allah said to his family: Work, O family of Dawud, in gratitude (Saba 34:13).
