Fasting
Fidya and kaffarah
Pay fidya for fast days that cannot be made up, or a kaffarah that is paid by feeding people in need. Every payment is kept apart from the other funds and used only to feed people in need.
Fidya for missed fasts
Fidya is for people who cannot fast and will not be able to make the days up, for example because of old age or a chronic illness. For each day missed, one meal is given to a person in need.
$15 per day, as set by the imam.
Kaffarah by feeding people
A kaffarah is an expiation. The two kinds below can be paid by feeding people in need, one meal for each person.
$15 per person fed, as set by the imam.
