Read the story
1. Pharaoh, the cruel king of Egypt, was harming the children of Bani Isra'il. When baby Musa (peace be upon him) was born, Allah inspired his mother: put him in a box and place it in the river, and do not be afraid.
2. The river carried the box to Pharaoh's palace. Pharaoh's wife loved the baby and said: do not kill him! Musa would not drink milk from anyone, so his own mother was brought to feed him. Allah kept His promise to her.
3. Years later, Musa was travelling with his family on a dark night. He saw a fire on the side of a mountain and went to get some warmth and directions.
4. There, in the blessed valley of Tuwa, Allah called him: O Musa, indeed I am your Lord, so take off your sandals (Ta-Ha 20:11-12). Allah spoke to Musa and chose him as a messenger.
5. Allah told Musa to throw down his staff, and it became a moving snake! Then it became a staff again. Allah gave Musa signs and sent his brother Harun (peace be upon him) to help him.
6. Musa and Harun went to Pharaoh and spoke to him gently. They told him: worship Allah and let Bani Isra'il go free. But Pharaoh was proud and said no.
7. Musa left at night with his people. Pharaoh and his army chased them all the way to the sea. The people cried: we will be caught! Musa answered: No! My Lord is with me, He will guide me (Ash-Shu'ara 26:62).
8. Allah told Musa to strike the sea with his staff. The sea split in two, and each side stood like a great mountain (Ash-Shu'ara 26:63). Musa and his people walked across safely, and Pharaoh and his army were not saved.
