Read the story
1. Nuh (peace be upon him) lived among people who prayed to idols made of stone. Allah sent him to tell them: worship Allah alone, and ask Him to forgive you.
2. Nuh called them by day and by night, in secret and out loud. He did this for 950 years! But most people put their fingers in their ears and would not listen.
3. Allah told Nuh to build a huge ark, a big boat made of wood. Nuh worked hard, plank after plank. People walking by laughed at him, but he kept going.
4. When the time came, Allah told Nuh to bring into the ark a pair of every kind of animal, and the people who believed. Only a few people believed, but they all climbed aboard.
5. Rain poured from the sky, and water burst up from the ground. Nuh said: In the name of Allah it sails and in the name of Allah it stops (Hud 11:41). The ark sailed on waves as tall as mountains.
6. Inside the ark, everyone was safe. Allah was taking care of them. Outside, there was water as far as the eye could see.
7. Then Allah told the sky to stop and the earth to swallow its water. The ark came to rest on a mountain called al-Judi (Hud 11:44).
8. Nuh, the believers and the animals came out of the ark in peace. They thanked Allah for saving them. Nuh had been patient, and Allah had kept His promise.
