1. When Yusuf (peace be upon him) was a boy, he told his father Yaqub (peace be upon him): I saw eleven stars, the sun and the moon, bowing down to me! His father said: do not tell your brothers, my son.
2. Yusuf's older brothers were jealous because their father loved him so much. One day, they took him far away and dropped him into a deep well. But Allah told Yusuf in his heart that one day he would tell them about what they had done.
3. Travellers passed by and let down a bucket to get water. Yusuf held on and came up! They took him with them to Egypt.
4. In Egypt, Yusuf grew up in the house of an important man. He was honest and good. Even when he was unfairly put in prison, he kept praying and helping others.
5. The king of Egypt had a strange dream: seven fat cows were eaten by seven thin cows, and there were seven green ears of wheat and seven dry ones. Nobody understood it, except Yusuf! Allah had taught him the meaning of dreams.
6. Yusuf explained: there will be seven good years with lots of food, then seven hard years. Keep the wheat in its ears and save it. The king put Yusuf in charge of the food stores of Egypt.
7. During the hard years, Yusuf's brothers came to Egypt to ask for food. Yusuf knew who they were, but they did not recognize him. Later, he told them: I am Yusuf!
8. His brothers were ashamed. Yusuf did not punish them. He said: No blame on you today. May Allah forgive you (Yusuf 12:92). Then the whole family came to Egypt, and his dream came true.
